I have long disliked these and found them buggy in various ways and
therefore support their removal.

Another option is a "mini-mode" toggle, like iTunes and WinAmp, which
I think would be better. Though our MediaPlayer is already pretty
minimal, certainly when playing audio which is likely when the
mini-mode would be wanted.
