Release 2.8 of gpsd is now available at:

Here are the most recent changes:

  Embarrassing typo fix in gps.py. Avoid buffer overrun in xgps.c.
  Plug Debian security bug 292347.  This version issued on an emergency
  basis without Python libraries, which have packaging problems due 
  to the 2.3/2.4 transition.
